Thank you

Saying thank you can go such a long way, and since I know that no one reads my blog anymore I feel like it's a safe place to tell this story. I LOVE to do things for people without them knowing it's me. I feel like it's way more fun to do kind things and not get the credit for it. I don't want people to know that I am the one sending out gift cards. I think it's just fun to remind people to be kind, send out random acts of kindness and ask them to pass it on. I honestly do believe that it can change someone's day or make a little difference in someone's life. Over the last year I have been trying to get people's addresses and send out little act of kindness cards. I've included a $5 starbucks gift card in them and sent them out without a return address so no one knows who they are from.

When I see someone post on Social media about the card they got in the mail, they are so grateful for such a small act, or they said it totally made their day and they are asking who sent it to them. I will never tell them it was me, because I just don't want the credit. But knowing that I made them smile with such a simple act seriously is my love language. It makes my heart so happy to do little random acts of kindness for people. I've had a few people specifically ask me if I sent it to them and of course I say no. They might ask me because I post a lot of random memes and stuff on Social Media about being kind or how people should do more random acts of kindness. But I never say it was me.

I'm saying all of this on my own personal blog because A) no one reads it so my secret won't get out B) I want to remember this really fun story from today.

Every morning I go out for a walk or a jog in my neighborhood. There are about 4 streets that I have made a good habit of going up and down between here and the next major intersection. This one street that is two streets away from me has a house that I always pass and over the last year they have been putting out little flags and signs in their yard that continuously make me smile. They are about being Kind to everyone, or just about human kindness. Sometimes there are specific ones about nurses, teachers or anything else going on at the time. But they are always so kind and sweet signs and flags. They always put a smile on my face and bring a lot of bright light to the neighborhood in this crazy world we live in.

The people that live in this house can only hope that people read their signs right? Or that people might be inspired when they walk by their house? We live in such a weird world right now that I more than appreciate the people in this house, and the way they try to show their kindness. I mean, if they have these signs in the front of their house, imagine what else these people do to show kindness. I mean, are they out feeding the hungry and helping the homeless? I have no clue, but they HAVE GOT TO BE good people.

A few weeks ago I had a good idea to leave them a card and just thank them for being a shining light in the neighborhood. I feel like they should get some credit for all the kindness they are showing the world just from their front yard. So I bought this very cute thank you card and bought them a Grubhub gift card. I wrote in the card that I was happy to walk by their house everyday and how much I appreciate them throwing kindness out into the world. I said, this is a random act of kindness, and thanked them for being a shining light in the neighborhood. Then I just signed it, Jamie. They have no idea who Jamie is. They are never home when I walk by in the mornings so there is no way to trace the card or gift card back to me. Just a act of kindness to them for being awesome. I dropped it in their mailbox a few weeks ago, hoping to just make them smile.

Anytime I send anything out via mail with no return address I always worry it might get lost in the mail and then I would never know because where is it going to go back to without a return address? I'm worried people don't get them and in the back of my head I'm always worried I'm just throwing away money on gift cards that get lost in the mail. Even just leaving this card in their mailbox I was worried about them not getting it. BUT, today on my walk, I walked by that house and this is a new sign they have added in their yard...........

I cried when I saw it. It made my heart melt for sure! They have no way of thanking me or finding out who I am, but they know I walk by their house every day so they fricken left a hand written note in their front yard to ME! It made me smile from ear to ear and even typing this out makes me tear up. To know that they were that thankful for a little thing I did for them just made me so happy. It just all comes full circle and I'm so grateful to do thoughtful things for people to let them know they are appreciated. BUT THIS right here just made my week, maybe even my year. I can't share it with anyone because really that defeats the entire purpose of doing things without people knowing. So I share it here on my blog because I want to remember that little things I do for people really DO matter and make a difference. People can be so good in this world and it's times like these that gives me hope for a better world for my kids!

If you are one of the random people who found this blog on some random search and you've read this, please do something in the world today that is kind and make someone's day! Let someone cut in front of you in line at the store, ask if you can help someone load groceries into their car. Pay for someone's fast food behind you in line. Send a card or a small gift card to someone to make them smile, so they receive something other than their bills in the mail. Send someone a text today letting them know you are thinking about them. TEACH YOUR kids to be kind, hold a door for someone, or just smile and say good morning to the person you pass on the street. It feels so amazing to do kind things for people especially if you never get the credit for it, but you see that you've made someone's day. It fills my heart like you wouldn't believe!

Mark my words, some day I will start my own non-profit on doing kind things for other people without them knowing! Jamie- CEO
